How to use white colour in your home decoration

The white colour transmits calm and brings light to any room. White on the walls, on the furniture, on the curtains, on the accessories… A lot of white! All colours have an effect on how we feel, each of them has a different influence, and the colour white will bring energy and purity, an accent colour that, combined with wood or pastel colours, can bring a completely different style to each stay.

The Nordic style is characterized by the repeated use of white in rooms, decorations, and walls... The best thing about this colour is that it can help us hide corners and irregular walls.

White colour on the walls

White is the most used colour on the walls of houses as a general rule, it goes well with almost all types of decoration but there are different shades of white that we can use and thus achieve one style or another:

  • Cream White – A white bedroom can be a very relaxing haven, and using this colour tone will look great when paired with ivory white curtains and bedding. Play with the combination of white fabrics in your bedroom, they can relax the atmosphere and bring relaxation to the space. We love the option of white walls and ceilings and adding touches of colour in furniture and accessories.
  • Nuclear white: A very classic way of treating the walls of our home, doors and wooden furniture is to paint with a bright nuclear white colour tone. This look also works great in spaces with modern décor. Painting nuclear white walls, furniture and wood panelling will create a feeling of spaciousness in the chosen rooms: we can paint the walls of a small room in a nuclear white tone and thus provide spaciousness.
  • Ivory white: It is common to hear the refusal of some people to paint certain rooms white due to the sensation of cold, for example, in kitchens. In this room, it is interesting to use a white that has a slight ivory tone. The ivory-white colour is perfect for rooms that have parquet and rooms that are illuminated by halogens that emit a clear light. A white kitchen can always fit with what you are looking for. and the variety of styles is limitless: modern, classic, rustic or minimalist kitchens in white.
  • Greyish White – Many art galleries and museums use this shade of white to paint their walls. It conveys sophistication and gives the feeling of a backdrop. For this reason, it is a type widely used to decorate rooms, especially the walls that have a television.

White and wood colour

The combination of white with wood provides elegance and identity, we can find a multitude of incredible furniture or even recycle our own... We will gain warmth by choosing wood for the floors, the beams, or a piece of furniture that gains prominence in a white room. Cherry, oak, mahogany, pine, teak… the list is extensive and the variety of incredible designer furniture that we can choose from is incredible. Find your style and get inspired by these examples:

White colour in the bathrooms

You can gain space in your bathroom by flooding it with white. It is ideal to combine it with small colour details: wooden mirrors, coloured showers... An option that will give your bathroom a very important change is to renew the tiles or paint them. White is a good option for furniture or walls in bathrooms, it is timeless and you can combine it with any other colour. Of course, we recommend you not to choose it for the floor, because it can be somewhat dirty for the day to day.

White walls and coloured or wooden furniture can create a very inspiring room and bring light and a feeling of spaciousness.

White and pink colour

The pink colour combined with the white colour brings peace and tranquillity, in the bedrooms, it is an ideal colour to find relaxation. We can choose pink bedding or play with the accessories in the room, choosing this colour as predominant. It is important to choose the shade of pink well according to the style we want to achieve because with this white-pink combination we will provide a romantic and calm style or a more ground-breaking style, depending on the tone and the combination we make.
